algodystrophy

A syndrome featuring OSTEOPOROSIS around joints, pain, swelling, excessive sweating, flushing and blanching of the skin and then atrophy, and loss of joint movement. It is probably due to disturbance of the sympathetic nervous system with interference with the small blood vessels. The condition usually clears up within a few months but there may be residual joint contractures.
