bite-mark injury bite-mark injury An injury on a person caused by another person’s. BMIs occur in 8 of 10 cases of interpersonal violence, assaults or domestic violence; animal bites are usually accidental, but may incur civil or even criminal liability. If there is enough detail in the bite mark and it is properly preserved, documented and analysed, the assailant can identified, especially if his or her saliva can be retrieved. BMIs include bruises, abrasions, lacerations, tissue avulsion and possiblly lost finger(s). |
