Díaz Ramírez, Manuel
Born Nov. 26, 1888; died Feb. 21, 1962. Mexican political figure and historian.
From his early youth Diaz Ramirez was active in the country’s working-class movement. From 1907 to 1919 he lived in the USA, Cuba, and Central America. He was one of the founders of the Mexican Communist Party (1919) and the Union of Communist Youth of Mexico; he was secretary-general of the Mexican Communist Party in 1921 and 1922. Beginning in the 1930’s, Diaz Ramirez devoted much attention to studying the working-class movement in Mexico.
