Cordillera de Vilcanota
Cordillera de Vilcanota
a mountain range in south-eastern Peru, situated between the Paucartambo (Yavero) and Vilcanota (Urubamba system) river valleys. The range is 250 km long and composed chiefly of Precambrian and Lower Paleozoic rock. In the south it is linked with the Cordillera de Carabaya by the glacial massif Ausangate (6,384 m). Its slopes are covered with mountain tropical rain forests.
