Biriuchii Island
the name of the southern, enlarged area of the Fedotov Spit (in the northwestern part of the Sea of Azov). Until 1929, Biriuchii Island was separated from the spit by a narrow strait. At its point of greatest length, Biriuchii Island is approximately 24 km long (Fedotov Spit, approximately 50 km) and 5 km wide.
