Facilities:52 class B campsites, pit toilets, picnic areas, picnic pavilions, snack bar, swimming beach, backpacking trailhead, hiking trails (18 miles), playground.
Activities:Camping, fishing, swimming, hiking, hunting, cross-country skiing, ice skating, environmental education programs.
Special Features:Park was named for Revolutionary War hero Colonel William Denning (1737-1830), who lived near Newville and invented a type of iron cannon used by the colonists during the Revolutionary War. He was never really a colonel, and it is uncertain when or who added the colonel to his name.
