In south-central AK, southwest of Fairbanks. Includes Denali National Park, where Mount McKinley, the highest point in North America, is located. Established Dec 28, 1990, primarily from the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area and a small part of the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area. Name Origin: The Tanana Indian name for Mount McKinley, meaning 'the great one' or 'the high one.'
