Beliaev Circle
Beliaev Circle
a group of musicians who united during the 1880’s and 1890’s around M. P. Beliaev.
The group used to gather for musical evenings at his home—the so-called Beliaev Fridays. Headed by N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, the group consisted basically of his students, A. K. Glazunov, A. K. Liadov, F. M. and S. M. Blumenfel’d and others. The Beliaev Circle, linked as a successor to the Russian Five, did not put forth any distinctive ideological and artistic program of its own.
