[e·rə′nȯd·ə·kəl ′bē·kən] (navigation) A visual aid to navigation, displaying flashes of white or colored light or both, used to indicate the location of airports, landmarks, and certain points of the Federal airways in mountainous terrain and to mark hazards.

An aeronautical ground light visible at all azimuths, either continuously or intermittently, to designate a particular point on the surface of the earth (ICAO). An aerodrome beacon is an example of aeronautical beacon. See aerodrome beacon.
