Aerofilter

aerofilter

[′e·rō‚fil·tər] (civil engineering) A filter bed for sewage treatment consisting of coarse material and operated at high speed, often with recirculation.

Aerofilter

a device for the biological purification of sewage. It is distinguished from a biofilter by the greater height of its filtering layer (up to 4 m) and the presence of a device for forced ventilation, which provides great oxidation capabilities. Air is transmitted with the aid of ventilators under overpressure of 200 mm of a column of water. Each cu m of aerofilter volume handles up to 5 cu m of sewage per day.
