(as-par'til-as'e-til-glū-kō-să-mēn), A compound formed from N-acetylglucosamine and asparagine, linked through the amide nitrogen of the latter and carbon-1 of the former. An important structural linkage in many glycoproteins. Elevated levels are found in certain cases of progressive mental retardation.
