Aerocystitis

 

inflammation of the mucous membrane of the air sac in horses and ducklings. In horses, the disease arises as a result of an inflammation in the area of the nose and nasopharynx. It is accompanied by an elevated body temperature and by a discharge of mucus and pus from both nostrils. Treatment is surgical. In ducklings, the ailment is the consequence of overcooling; the sick birds are given antibiotics in their feed.
