Location:South of I-80, between Auburn and Colfax. Main access is south of Auburn, via Highway 49 or Auburn-Foresthill Road.
Facilities:Boat-in and primitive campsites, picnic areas, multi-use trails, boat mooring, boat ramps; no drinking water available.
Activities:Camping, fishing, hiking, swimming, boating, whitewater rafting,horseback riding, mountain biking, off-highway vehicle (OHV) riding, gold panning.
Special Features:Area includes more than 40 miles of the North and Middle Forks of theAmerican river. Whitewater rafting is popular on both forks of theriver, withClass II, III, and IV runs. More than 30 private outfitters arelicensed to offer whitewater trips in Auburn SRA.
