Zórawno, Treaty of 1676

Żórawno, Treaty of (1676)

a peace treaty between the Polish Commonwealth and the Ottoman Empire, signed October 17 at Zorawno (present-day Zhuravno, L’vov Oblast, Ukrainian SSR). It marked the end of the Polish-Turkish War of 1673–76. The agreement ended the yearly payment of tribute by Poland to the Porte that had been stipulated in the Treaty of Buczacz (1672), but it reaffirmed the cession of Podolia to the Ottoman Empire. The Right-bank Ukraine, with the exception of the Belaia Tserkov’ and Pavoloch’ districts, was placed under the jurisdiction of Hetman P. Doroshenko, a vassal of the Turks.
