Zymotic disease
(Med.) | any epidemic, endemic, contagious, or sporadic affection which is produced by some morbific principle or organism acting on the system like a ferment. |

It is not used in the working medical parlance, as no one enzyme (“ferment”) is capable of evoking the Gotterdammerung contained within the definition. |
