Zritel
Zritel’
(Spectator), a monthly Russian literary journal published in St. Petersburg between February and December 1792. Its editors and chief contributors were I. A. Krylov, A. I. Klushin, and P. A. Plavil’shchikov. Krylov’s and Klushin’s satire was directed against serfdom, the ignorance of the landowners, and the so-called fashionable upbringing. Government persecution forced Zritel’ to cease publication.
