Zook, George Zook, George (Frederick)(1885–1951) educator; born in Fort Scott, Kans. In a distinguished government career he was U.S. Commissioner of Education (1933–34) and president of the American Council on Education (1934–50). He was a leading and influential advocate of expanding government aid to higher education and of developing junior colleges. |
