Zolotonosha
a city, the administrative center of Zolotonosha Raion, Cherkassy Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Situated on the Zolotonosha River, a tributary of the Dnieper. A railroad and highway junction. Population, 30,300 (1970). The city has factories for mechanical work and over-hauling, metal products, perfumes, and volatile oils. There is also a creamery, a fruit cannery, a poultry combine, a wine-making combine, and clothing and furniture factories. Zolotonosha also has an agricultural technicum and a museum of local lore. The first reference to the city is from 1647.
