Znamenka

a city (since 1938) and center of Znamenka Raion, Kirovograd Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Railroad junction. Population, 27,400 (1970). There are facilities for rail-road maintenance. Industries include food processing and the production of metal goods. Znamenka is the site of an agricultural technicum, a branch of the Odessa Railroad Technicum, and a museum of local lore.
