Zhukovka

a city (until 1962 a settlement) and the administrative center of Zhukovka Raion, Briansk Oblast, RSFSR. It is situated on the left bank of the Desna, a tributary of the Dnieper. Zhukovka is the starting point for navigation (irregular) down the Desna. Zhukovka has a railroad station on the Briansk-Smolensk line; a 43-km branch line runs from Zhukovka to the settlement of Kletnia. Population, 16,000, (1970). The city has a bicycle factory and a wood-products and food industry.
