Zhok

(“dance” in Moldavian), a mass Moldavian folk dance. Zhok also means a public festival. There is a betrinesk zhok (old people’s dance), a de glume zhok (a humorous dance), and some others. The dance has a dynamic movement. The musical measure is 2/4 and occasionally 6/8 and 3/8. Independent variants of zhok music and zhok dance steps exist in different regions of the Moldavian SSR.
