Zemlia i Vselennaia

(Earth and Universe), a popular science journal of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and the All- Union Astronomical-Geodetic Society. It was founded in 1965 and comes out six times a year. It publishes articles on astronomy, geophysics, and space exploration and materials on congresses and conferences. It also deals with astronomy education and gives practical advice to amateur astronomers. The journal prints letters from its readers and the replies, as well as reviews of books about the earth and the universe. Circulation, about 40,000 (1972).
