Zelenodol’sk

 

a city in the western Tatar ASSR, on the main Kazan-Gorky road, on the left shore of the Volga. The city is the site of the Zelenyi Dol railroad station, located on the Moscow-Razan line, 38 km to the west of Kazan, with spurs to Tabashino (157 km) and Volzhsk (7 km). Population, 78,000 (1971; 30,000 in 1939). Garment, veneer, and furniture factories, a furniture and veneer combine, and a railroad-tie impregnating plant are located here. Zelenodol’sk has a medical school and a mechanics technicum. The city arose in 1865 as the village of Kabachishche; it has been a city since 1932. In the vicinity are rest areas for the workers of Zelenodol’sk and Kazan. [9–1343–]


Zelenodol’sk

 

an urban-type settlement in Apostolovo Raion, Dnepropetrovsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, 7 km from the railroad junction of Apostolovo. Population, 10,000 (1970). The Krivoi Rog State Regional Electric Power Plant No. 2 is located there.
