Zavolzhsk

a city (until 1954, the settlement of Zavolzh’e) and administrative center of Zavolzhsk Raion, Ivanovo Oblast, RSFSR. It is situated on the left bank of the Volga across from the city of Kineshma. Population, 17,000 (1970). It has a chemical plant producing dyes, a fiber fac-tory, a reinforced-concrete products plant, and a dairy.
