Zaamin Mountain-Forest Preserve
a forest preserve in the Uzbek SSR, covering an area of 10,500 hectares (1969). It was established in 1960 to protect the natural complexes in the western part of the Turkestan Range. The characteristic vegetation is juniper thickets (Juniperus seravschanica, J. hemisphaerica, J. turkestanica) and steppe-like alpine meadows. Animal life is represented by the mountain goat, wild boar, white-toed bear, lynx, porcupine, and Himalayan snow cock.
