Y-set

Y-set

 an intravenous administration unit with two separate spikes, each with a separate drip chamber and individual clamps for flow regulation; the fluids are intermingled in the tubing or sometimes in a third drip chamber. Y-sets may be used either for the rapid infusion of fluids or for dual administration, such as of blood and 0.9 per cent sodium chloride solution.
