Young's two-slit interference

[′yəŋz ¦tü ¦slit ‚in·tər′fir·əns] (optics) Interference of light from two parallel slits which are illuminated by light from a single slit, which in turn is illuminated by a source; the interference can be seen by letting the light fall on a screen, which then shows a series of parallel fringes. Also known as double-slit interference; two-slit interference.
