Yorck Von Wartenburg, Ludwig

Born Sept. 26, 1759, in Potsdam; died Oct. 4, 1830, in Klein-Öls. Count, Prussian field marshal (from 1814).

During Napoleon’s Russian invasion in 1812, Yorck commanded a Prussian auxiliary corps near the Baltic. On Dec. 13, 1812, against the will of the Prussian king, Frederick William III, he signed the Convention of Tauroggen with representatives of the Russian Army; according to the convention his corps suspended operations against the Russians. In the 1813 campaign, Yorck commanded a corps.
