(Russian, iardang), a narrow, straight furrow approximately 1 m deep separating steep, asymmetric, sharp-crested banks (yardangs) and lying in the direction of the dominant wind. Yardangs and their troughs are formed in desert regions on the surface of clayey, loamy, and more coherent deposits.
