Yangch’üan

 

a city in North China, in Shansi Province. Population, approximately 350,000 (1972). A transportation center on the Shiht’ai (Shihchiachuang-T’aiyüan) Railroad, Yangch’üan is the center of the Yangch’üan Coalfield. In addition to a metallurgical plant, the city has chemical and cement industries. Iron ore and pyrites are mined in the vicinity.
