Yakobson, Sergius O.

(1901–79) foreign affairs specialist, author; born in Moscow, Russia. Emigrating to America to escape the onslaught of World War II, he was a Russian affairs specialist for the Library of Congress (1941), and then director of the Slavic and Central Europe division when it was established (1951). A frequent contributor to journals, he was the author of Conflict and Change in Soviet Historical Scholarship.
