XMP
XMP
(1) (EXtensible Metadata Platform) An ISO standard for storing and exchanging descriptive data (meta-data) about some object. Initially developed by Adobe, XMP data can be embedded into various media formats, including images and PDF files, or it can reside in separate files. In a post-production workflow, the XMP data can be updated as the content passes from one step to the next. See metadata.(2) (X/Open Management Protocol) A high-level network management protocol governed by X/Open. Network management software written to the XMP interface is shielded from the details of the underlying SNMP or CMIP protocols.
