Bald-Mountain Relief
Bald-Mountain Relief
a relief of smoothed divides and mountain slopes above the timber line that has developed in subarctic and arctic areas with a moderately cold climate. Bald-mountain relief is characterized by the presence of flattened or circularly shaped peaks (bald mountains) covered by large stone placers and polygonal formations. The mountain slopes are composed of bald-mountain terraces, rock streams, and various frost-solifluction landforms. This type of relief is found in the northern and polar Urals, in the mountains of eastern and southern Siberia, in the Saians, on the islands of the arctic, and in Canada and Alaska.
