Wu Chiang

Wu Chiang

 

a river in China, a right tributary of the Yangtze River. The Wu Chiang empties into the Yangtze below the city of Chungking. The lower course of the Wu Chiang is sometimes called the Ch’ien Chiang. The Wu Chiang is 1,018 km long and drains an area of 88,200 sq km. During the summer freshets occur. The mean flow rate is approximately 1,800 cu m per sec. The water level varies by up to 26 m. The city of Fuling is situated at the river’s mouth.
