Workforce Development Confederation
An NHS body established by the UK Department of Health which brings together local NHS and non-NHS member employers to plan and develop the entire healthcare workforce to meet the healthcare needs of the local population effectively, based on future skills and competency requirements. The WDC consists of local branches of the NHS workforce group and the hospital’s executive committee.Responsibilities of the WDC
• Monitor workforce (e.g., doctors and other professions) at the local level;
• Plan workforce targets in conjunction with local Human Resources departments and Deaneries;
• Place NHS-funded and Higher Education Funding Council of England (HEFCE) students;
• Control and distribute government funding for education and training via the MPET (Multi-Professional Education and Training) levy.
