Woomera-Maralinga

(wo͞o`mərə-mârəlĭng`gə), town (1991 pop. 1,600), in the state of South Australia, S Australia, near Lake Torrens. It is the site of a missile-testing range used by Australia and its allies. Australia's first earth satellite was launched there in 1967. Nearby is a U.S. space tracking station.
