释义 | Wood, Robert W.Wood, Robert W. (Williams)(1868–1955) physicist; born in Concord, Mass. He taught at Wisconsin (1897–1901), then joined Johns Hopkins (1901–38), where he served after his retirement as research professor until 1953. An authority on spectroscopy, he helped develop color photography, devised practical uses for infrared and ultraviolet light, and also performed research on sound waves. He wrote over 200 scientific articles, some science fiction, and an illustrated book of nonsense verse, How to Tell the Birds from the Flowers (1907). |
