Wolf Trap Summer Festival Season

Wolf Trap Summer Festival Season

May-SeptemberLocated just 30 minutes from downtown Washington, D.C., in Vienna, Virginia, Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts hosts musical performances on a year-round basis. But Wolf Trap is best known for the Summer Festival Season. Recent seasons have featured productions by the New York City Opera, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Kirov Ballet from Leningrad (now St. Petersburg, Russia), the Bolshoi Ballet, and the Joffrey Ballet as well as performances by Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, John Denver, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, and jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis.
Concerts are held in the 6,900-seat Filene Center, about half of which is exposed to the open sky. Many concertgoers bring a picnic supper and dine on the grass. Smaller concerts are held during the festival as well as off-season in the pre-Revolutionary, 350-seat German Barn.
