单词 | wolff, elisabeth |
释义 | Wolff, ElisabethWolff, Elisabeth (Bekker)(ālē`zäbĕt bĕk`ər vôlf), 1738–1804, Dutch novelist. She wrote satirical articles and poems, but she is most famous for the epistolary novels she wrote in collaboration with Agatha Deken (1741–1804). These sentimental novels of the early romantic school are important in Dutch literature, and they show the influence of Richardson and Fielding. Among them are Historie van Mejuffrouw Sara Burgerhart (1788) and Historie van Willem Leevend (8 vol., 1784–85). Elisabeth Wolff is known also as Elisabeth Wolff-Bekker and Betje Wolff; Agatha Deken as Aagje Deken. |
