Wire-Drawing Die
Wire-Drawing Die
a tool with an aperture through which a rod or wire is pulled in order to reduce the diameter of the wire or rod. A machine with such dies is often called a drawbench. The dies are usually made of high-strength steels or hard alloys. Dies for drawing very fine wire are made of diamond (either natural or synthetic) or sapphire crystals. The apertures in this case range in diameter from 2 to 0.006 mm and are formed by a laser beam.
