Winkler titration Winkler titration[′viŋ·klər tī‚trā·shən] (analytical chemistry) A chemical method for estimating the dissolved oxygen in seawater: manganous hydroxide is added to the sample and reacts with oxygen to produce a manganese compound which in the presence of acid potassium iodide liberates an equivalent quantity of iodine that can be titrated with standard sodium thiosulfate. |
