wing-tip trails wing-tip trailsVery thin transient trails emanating from the tips of the wings and at times also from the tailplane of an aircraft. They are formed by the reduction of pressure at the extremities of the wings of an aircraft resulting from adiabatic expansion, causing a reduction of the temperature to below the dew point. The wing-tip trails are more prominent when aircraft are in high g maneuvers. |
