wing-in-ground-effect craft wing-in-ground-effect craft[‚wiŋ in ′grau̇nd i‚fekt ‚kraft] (aerospace engineering) A type of air-cushion vehicle that is similar in design to an aircraft and requires forward speed to provide lift; it flies very close to the surface, generally over water, to take advantage of the increased lift and reduction in induced drag that are characteristic of such flight.
