Wine-making Vessels

basic equipment in wineries, used for fermenting, storing, and transporting wines. Originally, wine-making vessels were earthenware amphorae, and later wooden, chiefly oak, casks and vats began to be used. After the invention of reinforced concrete (1867), tanks made of this material came to be widely used. Today, most wineries are equipped with tanks of various volumes, shapes, and sizes, made of reinforced concrete, enameled metal, stainless steel, or metal with a synthetic coating. The future use of plastic tanks (glass-fiber-reinforced plastic) is envisaged.
