Wilson, Orlando W.

(1900–72) criminologist, educator; born in Veblen, S.D. Police chief of Fullerton, Calif. (1925–56) and Wichita, Kans. (1928–39), and superintendent of police in Chicago (1960–67), he became president of the Society for the Advancement of Criminology (19451–49). He taught at the University of California: Berkeley (1939–60) where he was dean of the school of criminology (1950–60). He was author of numerous books, including Police Records (1942) and Police Administration (1950), and editor of Parker on Police (1956).
