a river in Poland, right tributary of the Vistula. It is 328 km long and drains an area of 10,700 sq km. The river originates on the eastern slopes of the Roztocze Hills. Its upper reaches cut across the Lublin Hills; farther on it flows through lowlands in a swamped valley. The Wieprz empties into the Vistula near the city of Deblin. There is highwater in the spring and low water in the summer. The mean annual flow rate is approximately 40 cu m/sec. There are timber floating and navigation in the lower reaches. The city of Krasnystaw is on the Wieprz.
