Widukind of Corvey
Widukind of Corvey
(Witikind, Wittekind). Born circa 925; died after 973. A German medieval historian and Saxon Benedictine monk of the abbey of Corvey in Westphalia. Widukind wrote The History of the Saxons (in three books), covering the history to the year 967; an unknown author continued it to the year 973. This work sheds light on political and military events in the history of the Saxons and on the activity of the first two German kings of the Saxon dynasty.
