West Whitlock Recreation Area
Location:18 miles west of Gettysburg off US 212.
Facilities:100 modern campsites (87 with electrical hookups, 1 @di), 2 cabins, comfort stations with showers, picnic areas, picnic shelter, hiking trails, ski beach, swimming beach, boat, fish cleaning station, historic site, playground.
Activities:Camping, boating, fishing, swimming, water-skiing, diving, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing.
Special Features:The replica of an Arikara earth lodge found in the park is a reminder of the many lodges that the Lewis and Clark expedition saw as they traveled this area. Each lodge, made of cottonwood logs, willow branches, and grass, could house up to 20 people.
