West Berlin Art Museums

a part of the State Museum complex of the Prussian Cultural Trust, located in the municipal district of Dahlem in West Berlin. The complex includes the Egyptian Museum, the Antique Branch, the Islamic Museum, the Sculpture Branch, the Picture Gallery (a collection of works by the old masters, one of the richest in Europe; it contains paintings by Jan van Eyck, Titian, Rubens, and Rembrandt), the New National Gallery (a museum of modern art; 1968; architect, L. Mies van der Rohe), the Print Cabinet, the Museum of Industrial Art, the Ethnographical Museum, the Museum of Primitive and Ancient History, the Museum of German Ethnography, the Museum of Indian Art, and the Museum of East Asian Art. The Office of Public Palaces and Parks (Charlottenburg, Grunewald, Glienicke, and Pfaueninsel) is located in Charlottenburg Castle in the municipal district of Charlottenburg. The Briicke Museum contains a collection of paintings and drawings by the artists of the Brücke group.
