释义 | Weir, J. AldenWeir, J. (Julian) Alden(1852–1919) painter; born in West Point, N.Y. He studied in Paris (1873), traveled in Europe (1873–83), worked in New York, and settled in Connecticut (1883). A founder of the Ten (1898), an impressionist group, he is remembered for his paintings such as Idle Hours (1888). In 1991 his property in Wilton/Ridgefield, Conn., was named a National Historic Site, the first artist's home so designated. |
